Fort Wayne Mad Ants Ghanaian Forward Ben Bentil has turned 22. The 6 foot 8 inch player, who can play Small Forward and Power Forward positions, is in his first year as a professional after getting drafted 51st overall in last year’s NBA Draft by Boston Celtics.

He currently plies his trade with Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA’s Development League after a brief stint with Dallas Mavericks in the top division.

Bentil ushered in his birthday with a seven point, 10 rebound performance in Fort Wayne’s 116-100 win over Long Island Nets on March 28.

He is averaging 12.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for the Mad Ants.

He has set a chain of historic marks along the way from being the first Ghana born player to be drafted to the first to play in the league.

Two prior stints at Fort Wayne and Chinese Basketball Association side Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers take up space on his CV.

The former Providence College star averaged 21 points and seven rebounds in his second year before declaring for the draft.

The Sekondi-Takoradi native was named Most Improved Player in the Big East Conference and was also the Conference’s top scorer.
