UCC (red) have qualified to the quarter finals.

UCC (red) topped Zone C.
The Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship quarterfinals is set to take place at the University of Ghana (UG) on April 7.

The eight teams that have made it to the stage include 2017 Zone C winners University of Cape-Coast (UCC) who make a return to the elite stage after missing out on the 2016 edition.

Remnant of last year’s team, Point Guard Ibrahim Mohammed delivered on his promise for UCC to feature in this year’s quarterfinals with a flawless qualification phase that had the side topple TTU this time around.

UCC failed to qualify from the preliminary stage last year after falling behind Takoradi Technical University (TTU) in the qualifiers. Last year’s failure marked an end to consecutive trips to the quarterfinals of the prestigious Championship by the 2015 bronze medalist.

TTU beat UCC 49-46 to qualify going all the way to place fourth behind winners UG, Accra Technical University and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

UCC joins seven other teams to be drawn on Sunday April 2 in a live balloting on basketball television show “Courtside” which airs between 14:00 GMT and 16:00 GMT on Ghana channel Kwese Free Sports.
