Former Braves of Customs Ivorian Center Romeo Enan has expressed his delight following Ivory Coast’s qualification to the 2017 African Basketball Championship or AfroBasket earlier this week.
The West African side won all games in Zone 3 of the qualifiers ahead of fellow sub regional sides Burkina Faso and Benin.
Speaking exclusively to Basketballghana.com, the Ivorian international who played two plus years in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I with Braves stated he feels it’s good to see his country make the Championship.
“I am really happy that my country has qualified for the Afrobasket 2017. They did really well by wining all their matches during the 2 rounds. And it shows that basketball in Ivory Coast is going up” he said.
This year’s AfroBasket will be held in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo between August 19 and 30.
Defending Champions Nigeria, Egypt, Tunisia and Senegal are among 11 countries that have secured spots in the Championship with qualifiers taking place to determine the remaining teams for the tournament.
