Rangers-Kings (red and black outfit) in action.

Quist about to attempt a three point shot.

The 2017 season of the Tema Community Basketball League has commenced at the Tema Community 4 Basketball Court with three games tipping off proceedings for the regular season.

Teshie Rangers got things underway with a 32-29 win over Korle-Bu Kings before Tema Community 5 lost 24-25 to Community 12 and Tema Heat beat Community 2.

Ashaiman Warriors won the tie against Adenta Leopards via forfeit after the latter failed to show up for the game.

Following Rangers closely contested three point win over Korle-Bu, Community 5 collapsed in the final minutes after taking several 10 plus leads in the game against Community 12. A frantic effort to get back level, failed to materialize as the side went on to lose by two points in shocking fashion.

The final game of the day proved to be the best as Heat completed a major comeback from a 14-24 loss to claim victory over Tema Community 2.

Guard Kingsley Quist was the star for the Heat in the tie as he delivered five three point shots to lead the charge.

Heat Center Gershon Dzorvor clearly showed no effects of a head injury he sustained in preseason by finishing plays with eye catching dunks.

Below is a summary of results in Week 1:

Teshie Rangers 32-29 Korle-Bu Kings

Community 5 24-25 Community 12

Adenta Leopards-Ashaiman Warriors forfeited

Tema Heat 36-33 Community 2.
