The team was in pole position to win the league but falling 39-40 to Desert Rabbits in overtime in the final game of the season meant bitter rival Suncity Braves walked away with the league crown.
Braves played before UENR played out its fixture at the Eusbett Court in Sunyani; Suncity beat LIR Royals 41-39 to win the title.
UENR and Brave shave contested the title since the league commenced in 2016 and split the championship titles between them.
This has been a good year for Suncity who add another league crown to the title won in 2016 but same cannot be said about UENR’s campaign.
Desert Rabbits wrapped up an impressive season finishing fourth after placing fourth in the past season. Rabbits rise has been sharp considering the team finished in the lower end of the standings in 2016.
Bound to end up in the bottom two spots, Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG)Saints and West Siders forfeited respective games against Barracks Scorpions and Sunyani Technical University.
