KNUST (yellow) won all games in Zone G.

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) have made it through to the next stage of the ongoing 2017 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

Both sides qualified to the quarterfinals by going unbeaten in Zones G and F games played at the Kumasi Technical University (KTU) respectively.

UENR, topped Sunyani Technical University (STU) with a 34-26 win before laying it into Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) in the final game in Zone F with a 60-11 win.

CUCG ended the competition without a win as it fell 39-41 to STU.

Still on the theme of winless in Ghana’s most prestigious tertiary basketball tournament, Ghana Technology University College (GTUC-Kumasi) completed arguably the worst run in the competition’s history.

The team failed to win any games in Zone G losing 60-4 to KNUST and incurred a 7-48 loss to host KTU. KNUST beat KTU 25-19 in the final game of the zone to book its place in the quarterfinal.
