Braves (yellow) blitzed past Magic.
Fire (yellow) proved too much for Navy to handle.

Fire Service and defending Champions Braves of Customs have produced dominant displays in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I games played at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.

Fire beat Ghana Navy 57-44 before Braves responded in the best way after falling to bitter rival Tema Youth with a 67-42 win over Tudu Magic.

Braves led from start to finish in a game the multiple league champions strolled through with ease with a 24-7 lead in the first quarter.

Matters remained same in the following quarter as Braves extended its lead to 15 with a 30-15 lead at the end of the half. Guard Steven Forster was Magic’s sole bright spot in the game completing a three point play in the second quarter.

The home side amped its efforts on defense forcing Customs into a couple of turnovers early in the third quarter but failed to make them count on the other end with a series of woeful shooting.

Braves former MVP’s Baniba Dodzie and Abdul Mutalib Alhassan clinched three point shots each. The former missed a three point shot but got fouled after grabbing the rebound and scoring. He completed the three point play while Alhassan buried a three point shot to wrap proceedings comfortably for Braves.

Fire Service extended its perfect start to the 2017 season after winning its second straight game by beating Navy. After falling 50-53 to Adenta Leopards in midweek, Navy failed to recapture its late game heroics as a pair of 14-9 quarter leads for Fire was enough to see off its challenge.
