Three slots in the quarterfinals of the 2017 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship remain in the after math of Accra Technical University’s conquest of Zone E to book its spot in the prestigious competition.
Teams in Zones F and G will battle later this week for spots in the latter stage with last year’s bronze medalist Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) headlining Zone F while University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) leads the contingent in Zone G.
UENR played in the 2016 quarter final but missed out on progressing further in the competition.
So far, five teams have secured their places in the quarters and will be pitted against each other in a special draw once the preliminary qualifiers are completed this week.
Marshalls University College has qualified from Zone A and debutant All Nations University College piped Valley View University to make it from Zone B.
University of Cape-Coast and reigning Champions University of Ghana have made it out of Zones C and D respectively and Accra Technical recently qualified from Zone E.
