Pentecost University just completed a disappointing campaign in Zone E of the 2017 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship held at the Accra Technical University (ATU).
The Sowutuom-based institution ranked bottom of the zone after three rounds where it lost to the host team, Central University and Wisconsin International University College; ATU topped the zone with Central and Wisconsin following in second and third.
Pentecost lost 24-27 to Central in the opening game before going on to lose 26-27 to Wisconsin and 25-51 to ATU.
Despite having a talented roster including Accra Basketball League duo William Franke and Gershon Dzorvor, the side couldn’t fashion out a win.
The most frustrating part of the campaign was the team’s inability to close a game.
In both losses to Wisconsin and Central, Pentecost held nine point leads in each game but managed to lose both games in shocking fashion.
In the final game against ATU, Pentecost was dominated from the start and never looked a side capable of springing a surprise win.
ATU will represent the zone in the quarterfinals on April 6.
