The Tema Community Basketball League has challenges despite the progress made by the fledgling Ghanaian league according to league official Fred Yeboah.

Speaking in an interview with Basketballghana.com, the veteran player was upbeat about the upcoming season but was quick to note there were issues that need to be addressed before the March 26 tip off date for the 2017 season.

“So far it has been good but we still have challenges with money and media coverage to get a lot of people to know the players” he said when contacted by Ghana’s leading hoops portal.

This year’s campaign is expected to feature a lot more teams than the seven that played in last season’s league championship; the roster is expected to be in the range of 12 and 17.

League organizers recently concluded the one month preseason tournament which was won by reigning league champions Nungua Coldstore.

The team beat Tudu Magic 32-26 in the final as Ghana Navy placed third. Teams in the Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I are expected to among teams set to compete in the 2017 season.
