Marshalls University College has underscored its strength in Ghana’s tertiary division by securing top spot in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship Zone A.
The side has qualified to the quarterfinals on the back off a three game winning game run with a 29-16 win over close Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) sealing the spot.
Prior to that, Marshalls beat Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) 36-18 in the opening before doing same against debutant Regional Maritime University College.
For GTUC, losing the game means an end to its run in the competition ahead of first timers Maritime University who surprisingly piped GIMPA to third place.
GIMPA lost to Maritime 27-38 to conclude an embarrassing campaign.
The side has consistently failed to show up for competitions despite having big name players. A quarter final spot in last year’s edition could only end up with three straight losses.
Marshalls joins All Nations University College and University of Cape-Coast in the quarter finals that is slated for April 6 and 7.
