Ocloo is a founding father of the Accra Basketball league.

GBBA Chairman David Addo Ashong.

No representative from Ghana’s Basketball Association (GBBA) will be in the running for positions at the upcoming Ghana Olympic Committee elections Basketballghana.com can confirm. The elections have been scheduled to take place on March 15 at the Alisa Hotel in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

34 personalities are in the running to be voted to occupy spots in Ghana’s umbrella sports organization. Incumbent President Prof. Francis Doodoo is up against Ghana Weightlifters Association Head Ben Nunoo-Mensah for the top seat.

However, the list of qualified candidates released by the organizing committee earlier today had no rep from Ghana’s Basketball circle. Information reaching Basketbaghana.com indicate the body has stalled on organizing an intra-association elections for the past three years.

Therefore all candidates from the organization are not viable to contest since they have outlived their tenures.

This is a huge dent on the sport in the West African nation that is at the forefront of one of the biggest hoops renaissance in the region.

This constitutes the latest in a string of bad news for the country’s fraternity in light of the sudden demise of stalwarts Matthias Ocloo and Benjamin Baafi.
