A pair of Ghanaian NBA prospects was in action in the NCAA postseason with contrasting results. Bashir Ahmed’s St. John’s University beat Georgetown University 74-73 in a thrilling game at the Madison Square Garden.
However, Ernest Aflakpui’s Temple University wasn’t so lucky as the Owls lost 69-80 to East Carolina University in the American Athletic Conference.
Bashir poured in 14 points, five rebounds, two assists and a block in 29 minutes. The Small Forward fared fairly well in his NCAA Division postseason debut as the Red Storm piped the Hoyas to make it to the next round.
Unfortunately, St, John’s lost 67-108 to reigning national champions Villanova with Bashir scoring 12 points.
Aflakpui tallied six points, four rebounds and a block in 19 minutes.
However, the side had very little joy shooting converting the three point shot. The Owls converted just nine of 29 shots while Carolina converted 10 of 21 shots from the spot.
