The Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division begins later today at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu with games involving defending champions Braves of Customs.
Last year’s champions plays home side Tudu Galaxy at 17:00 GMT in the season opener before Ghana Navy plays University of Ghana (UG) in the following game.
Braves won the championship with an unbeaten campaign against five opposing teams which has been reduced further to four for this season.
UG will finally play in the league after the side missed out on featuring in the 2016 campaign due to administrative challenges. The side takes on last year’s fifth placed team.
All games will be played in honor of legendary league officials Matthias Ocloo and Benjamin Baafi who both passed away in recent times.
Ocloo is a founding father of the league and Baafi was the league administrator. A minute silence is expected to be observed.
