Tema Community 5 and Teshie Rangers have failed to qualify to the quarter finals of the Tema Community Basketball League curtain raiser dubbed the “Campaign Tournament” but that did not prevent both teams from pulling off big results.
Adenta Leopards and DC Dynamics qualified from Group D to complete the list which includes Group C duo Ghana Navy and Tudu Magic. The quarterfinals and subsequent games will be played on March 12.
Despite losing 22-34 to Dynamics and 33-38 to Ghana Police, Rangers pulled off a surprise 23-21 win over the then unbeaten Leopards with the game decided by two made free throws with two seconds left to play in the game.
Rangers Shooting Guard Gabriel Numarworse drilled consecutive three point shots to spark the rally late in the fourth quarter.
Community 5 on the other hand, beat a talented and veteran Police team 24-22 to stun fans at the Tema Community 4 Court.
The young guns got the better of a Police side that featured the likes of Emmanuel Dickson and Benjamin Debrah.
