Dallas Mavericks Ghana Forward Ben Bentil got on to the box score for the right reasons for the first time as he registered two rebounds in the Mavericks 104-98 win over Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Regular season.

The 6 foot 8 inch versatile Forward did get on the box score on his debut but it came as a result of a foul on Atlanta Hawks Forward Paul Millsap.

Against OKC, Bentil made his mark in only his second game since signing a 10 day contract from Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA’s Development League by grabbing two defensive rebounds in just three minutes, 35 seconds of play.

He however, turned the ball over on one possession.

Since signing with Dallas the past week, Bentil has achieved many historic feat including being the first Ghana-born player to play in the NBA. The 21 year olds status is up in the air as his contract is set to expire pending further moves by the team’s management.

Last year, Bentil became the first Ghana-born player to be drafted into the NBA after Boston Celtics selected him 51st overall. He has since featured for Fort Wayne and Xinjiang Guanghui in China.
