Dallas Mavericks beat Miami Heat 96-88 in the NBA as Ghana Forward Ben Bentil did not feature in the game despite making the team after signing a 10 day contract with the side over the weekend.
The former Providence College product failed to play in the game joining fellow rookie Nicolas Brussino on the bench for the entire game. Quinn Cook, who signed a 10 day contract, played 17 minutes and scored two points.
Bentil averaged 14 points and five rebounds for Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the Development League before signing with Dallas and was in line to make his NBA debut.
The first Ghanaian-born player to be drafted into the NBA is yet to play in the league after Boston Celtics selected him 51st overall in last year’s draft.
The win keeps Dallas playoffs hopes alive despite being 11th in the standings and turning over its roster with the likes of Andrew Bogut, Deron Williams and Justin Anderson leaving as Nerlens Noel came in from Philadelphia.
Seth Curry scored 29 points to lead the team in scoring.
