Former Referee, Coach and Administrator Matthias Ocloo is to be buried on March 18 after his sudden demise Basketballghana.com can confirm.
The long serving official passed away on February 16 after battling months of illness.
In line with traditional customs, the day for his burial was set exactly a week after his death (February 23) at his residence in Dome a suburb of Accra.
Ocloo served in many roles during his lengthy career that had him take up roles across several departments of the game. Before falling ill, he was the Acting Chairman of Ghana’s Basketball Referees Association.
For several years, he shuffled between management and administering basketball teams in Ghana including the country’s Female Basketball Team. He also coached St, Mary’s Senior High School and University of Ghana.
He was a leading supervisor of Ghana’s most prestigious tertiary basketball tournament, the UPAC Championship which is underway; University of Ghana are the defending champions.
All Nations University College topped Zone B to make it to the quarterfinals on April 6 and 7.
