Ghana Small Forward Bashir Ahmed scored a game high 21 points for St. John’s University but his production was not enough to prevent his side from losing 71-93 to Marquette University in Milwaukee.
Ahmed added two steals and five rebounds to his production line in 30 minutes of game time. He converted seven of 14 attempts from the field, thereof seven from three point range and four of six from the free throw line.
However, a bad shooting night marred the Red Storm’s night as the team scored just six of 22 attempts from three point range compared to Marquette’s mark of 12 conversions in 24 attempts.
Aside Bashir, only players on St. John’s roster scored in double figures including Guard Shamorie Ponds who pitched in 14 points.
The loss condemns St. John’s to its 16th loss of the season; it has won 12 games in the campaign.
The side will be in action against George Town University on Saturday, February 25 at its home ground, Madison Square Garden.
