The 2017 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is set to tip off on February 17 at the University of Ghana (UG) with games in Zone A scheduled to be honored.

However, the home team, who double as reigning Champions of the competition, UG, will play its games in Zone D on March 10.

The side has been drawn alongside Bluecrest University College, University of Professional Studies (UPSA) and Ho Technical University with just one quarter final spot up for grabs; UG is heavily tipped to top the group.

UG who made history by winning the All Africa University Games last year, started the year the same way it concluded last year as the side beat University of Cape-Coast (UCC) to win the 7th Mini GUSA Games in January.

Neither of UG’s opponents, made it past the preliminary stage. Bluecrest troubled Accra Technical University but eventually fizzled out and Ho Technical lost out on top spot to Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

UPSA pulled out of the competition at the last hurdle due to administrative constraints. The Legon-based side competed in the GUSA Games but lost all three first round games to exit the tournament winless.
