Koforidua Technical University (KTU) forms part of a quartet of debutants at the 2017 UPAC Basketball Championship which tips off on February 17 at the University of Ghana (UG).
KTU-recently known as Koforidua Polytechnic- joins Maritime University College, KAAF University College and All Nations University College as first timers in the tertiary competition.
Three of the aforementioned teams will play in Zone B at KTU’s Court on February 24 in this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship edition.
However, Maritime University will be in action on the opening day as it has been paired in Zone A alongside Marshalls University College, Ghana Technology University College and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
Since its inception in 2011, the UPAC field has expanded over the years to welcome more teams representing Ghana’s tertiary institutions.
Teams from Ghana’s Northern and Brong- Ahafo Regions including quarter finalists University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) made their debut in last year’s Championship.
UG beat two time winners Accra Technical University 45-44 to lift the title in 2016.
