The Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is likely to commence sometime next month Basketballghana.com gathers ahead of what is expected to be a busy year for players in tertiary institutions in Ghana.
The beloved tournament comes on the heels of the recently ended 7th Mini GUSA (Ghana University Sports Association) Games which took place at the University of Cape-Coast (UCC). University of Ghana (UG) placed first with University of Development Studies coming third and UCC, second.
UG doubles as the reigning UPAC and All Africa University Games Champions.
That aside, the Private Universities Students’ Association (PUSAG) Games takes place with a bevy of private university teams billed to compete for the chance to topple Champions Marshalls University College.
Reigning champions Accra Polytechnic will battle for supremacy again when they take on the Ghana Polytechnics Sports Association (GHAPSA) Games basketball competitors later in the year.
Accra Polytechnic is a former winner of UPAC and like UG holds an African title to its name. The team won the 2015 WAPOGA (West Africa Polytechnic Games) basketball competition.
