Brimah blocks shot.

Two Ghanaians were in action over the weekend in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men’s Basketball Division with mixed results as the season moves into the midpoint.

University of Connecticut (UCONN) Center Amida Brimah was in impressive form as he led UCONN to record a 72-65 win over East Carolina University at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. The seven footer recorded 13 points, three rebounds and three blocks in 30 minutes.

Brimah was efficient from the free throw line as he converted three of five attempts and had a similar rate from the field by converting five of nine attempts.

However, Bashir Ahmed was on the losing side as St. John’s University lost 73-86 to Seton Hall with the Small Forward scoring 19 points to go with seven rebounds in 31 minutes. His scoring mark was the second highest for St. John’s who were outrebounded 45-33 by Seton.

The loss condemns the Red Storm to its 12 loss of the season having won nine games. Both players are set to feature in the next round of games as UCONN plays University of South Florida on Wednesday January 25 as St. John’s takes on Providence College.
