Tema Youth confirmed its withdrawal from the West African tournament after losing to Braves in the league final.

The 2017 Accra Basketball League season is set to take place in March following a recently held meeting between league officials and club representatives at the Lebanon House forecourt in Ghana’s capital Accra.

The Women’s Division will tip off the season with the first round of games to take place on March 9.

The Men’s Division I season begins a day after on March 10 with the Lebanon House Court and Prisons Court tabled to host games per reports gathered.

Teams are expected to register players for the upcoming season for both division between January 19 and February 24. Braves of Customs won the league in the Women’s Division and Men’s Division I last season. Adenta Leopards and Tema Youth’s Junior side have qualified to play this season after gaining promotion from Division II.

Braves Male Team beat close rival Tema Youth to win last year’s title; its female side topped the six team female division to emerge champions.

However, neither team was able to represent Ghana at the FIBA Zone Three Africa Championship in Togo due to financial constraints.

The league still remains without a sponsor ahead of the upcoming season.
