Opoku Ware School (OWASS) triumphed at the tenth anniversary edition of the Sprite Ball Championship by beating Mfantsipim School 27-25 in the final game.

The side made history in the process as it became the first school from the Ashanti Region to win the coveted trophy in the boys division.

However, the team’s run to the 10,000 Ghana Cedis Cash prize tested every ounce of tactical nous from Coach Alexander Obeng Takyi.

After getting past a daunting group that had three time bronze medalist Koforidua Senior High Technical School (K.S.T.S), Western Region powerhouse Ghana Senior High Technical School (G.S.T.S.) and Ghana Lebanon Islamic Senior High School (GLISS), OWASS got past Sacred Heart and St. John School in the quarter and semifinals respectively.

Leading 19-9 at the end of the first half against the record winners of the division, OWASS faltered in the second half to trail for the first time since the opening minutes of the game. However, a three point play from Center Harris Amuzu sealed the win for the Kumasi side.

Below is a complete breakdown of results in the team’s title run:
