University of Education-Winneba’s (UEW) failure to make it to the semi finals of the 7th Mini GUSA Games Basketball competition comes after drawing huge praise from University of Cape-Coach (UCC) Basketball Team Coach Charles Obimpeh.
The Host’ Trainer was impressed with the performance of the side and that of University of Ghana (UG) after the former had won two straight games and the latter had beaten University of Development Studies (UDS) 77-44.
“I must say I have been impressed with Legon (UG) and University of Education-Winneba” he said in an interview with Courtside Host Yaw Sakyi Afari on Ghana channel Kwese Free Sports.
However, he made the statement prior to the final round of games which took place later that had UEW lose 36-49 to KNUST and miss out of the semi finals.
The loss was the sides first in the competition but UCC’s 85-42 win over UPSA meant the Winneba-based institution placed third in Group B with all three teams recording two wins from three games.
Superior goal differences pushed UCC and KNUST into the final four.
UG on the other hand, had no problems dispatching University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) beating the Sunyani-based side 103-53 to top Group A.
