KUGHIS (in green) against Wesley Girls in the final.

Kumasi Girls High School’s (KUGHIS) second place finish at the just ended tenth anniversary edition of the Sprite Ball Championship is not disappointing according to Team Coach Zibo Brown after his side fell to Wesley Girls High School in the female division’s final game.

KUGHIS lost 4-6 in a tense game that surprisingly showed little quality play from two sides that had dazzled fans and terrorized opponents in the Championship.

Brown on his part stated though the end result left much to be desired, he was “not disappointed” with it.

KUGHIS, playing in its first ever final game in the Championship, ties the two time winner Wesley Girls prior to the second half which had the Cape Coast side capitalize on free throws to see out the game and seal victory.

In the process, KUGHIS failed to match city rival Yaa Asantewaa Girls Senior High School’s 2010 win and double win for Ashanti Region following Opoku Ware’s win in the boys division over Mfantsipim School.

Wesley Girls on the other hand, made history with the win as it put them on top of the competition’s winner’s list with three.

The team’s run was more amazing in light of missing the tournament for four straight years.
