Point Guard Joel Tham in action for UG.

University of Professional Studies (UPSA) Male Basketball Team has lost its second consecutive game at the ongoing Mini GUSA Games Basketball competition.

The side lost 64-78 to University of Education-Winneba (UEW) at the University of Cape-Coast’s ultra modern gymnasium.

UPSA’s loss all but ends its campaign in the Central Region after losing 48-54 to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in the opening game.

However, the Legon-based side can sneak into the latter stages of the competition should results go its way in the final round of games.

Host UCC’s 47-44 win over KNUST means a UPSA win over UCC coupled with a UEW win over the host institution could put the side in the next stage albeit on point difference.

In other results on the second day of competition, reigning GUSA Champions University of Ghana (UG) brushed aside University of Development Studies (UDS) with a 77-44 win.

This puts the side in pole position to top Group A which features University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR).

Games will resume on January 8 with UG taking on UENR at 16:30 GMT right after KNUST plays UEW at 15:00 GMT. UPSA’s game against UCC rounds up the preliminary round of the competition.
