Ghana was heavily represented in the NCAA Basketball top division as players from the West African country were in action for their respective teams.
Unfortunately none ended up on the winning side. University of Connecticut (UCONN) Center Amida Brimah was the toast of the bunch as he proved utterly unstoppable on the boards in UCONN’s 61-70 loss to Memphis University.
The 6-11 defensive linchpin grabbed a game high 15 rebounds with 10 of those coming on the defensive end. He completed a strong night by scoring nine points and blocking two shots.
However, Brimah’s near double-double was not enough to prevent the side from suffering its ninth loss of the campaign. UCONN has won just five games all season.
Bashir Ahmed of St. John’s University also suffered a loss this time a 72-85 folding to Creighton University at the Carnesecca Arena in New York.
Unlike Brimah, the Small Forward had an off night as he could only muster six points, seven rebounds, an assist and a block in 25 minutes on the court.
The loss leaves St. John’s an eight win, eight loss record for the season.
At the Moody Colliseum in Texas, Power Forward Ernest Aflakpui’s Temple University lost 65-79 to Southern Methodist University in an another underperforming stint as he registered four points and a turnover in 16 minutes.
