Bashir Ahmed opened 2017 with a 14 point outing for St. John’s University’s 70-73 win over DePaul University in the NCAA Division I.
The Ghanaian Small Forward was the third highest scorer for his side and chipped in five rebounds and a block in 30 minutes of action.
He was most efficient from three point range as he converted four of six attempts from distance.
However, he wasn’t particularly impressive as he converted five of 12 attempts from the field and failed to go the free throw line. Guards Marcus LoVett and Shamorie Ponds top scored for the team with 22 and 15 points respectively in the win over the Blue Devils.
The win gives the Red Storm a third straight win and improves its record for the season to eight wins in 15 games.
St. John’s plays Creighton next on January 4.
