Basketballghana.com can confirm the second edition of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) will tip off in March 2022 following the official announcement made recently.

Next year’s edition of the NBA-FIBA Africa competition is slated to run from March 5 to May 28 with 12 teams due to compete in the continental tournament. (Click highlighted text to watch promo)

Unlike the 2021 edition that was hit by the COVID 10 pandemic forcing organizers to suspend playing games across multiple cities on the continent and seeing out the tournament in a bubble, next year’s edition will have games played in different cities.

Senegal’s Dakar Arena will host preliminary games from March 5 to March 15 and Egypt’s Hassan Moustafa Hall will host games from April 9 to April 19.

The knockout phase of the competition is to be staged at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda; the Arena hosted all games earlier this year via the bubble.

Six teams have automatically qualified to compete in next year’s tournament including defending champions Zamalek of Egypt.
