GSP Basketball League is set to host sets of back to back games in the coming rounds in Sunyani as leaders of one of Ghana’s burgeoning leagues, faces a race to complete the season in time and allow players get in their fair share of off-court responsibilities.
This development arose when Basketballghana.com contacted GSP Public Relations Officer Daniel Addo, who stated the arrangement is to save time and fast track the league’s second round since students of competing tertiary educational institutions will be required to sit for midterm end of semester exams.
Following the postponement of today’s round of league games to commence the resumption of the second round, the first set of back to back games is expected to take place on Saturday December 3 and Sunday December 4.
There are also deliberations to have games played in the evening as well.
GSP’s second season has three tertiary educational institutions- UENR, CUCG Saints and Sunyani Polytechnic- competing with all three enjoying varying degrees of success. While the Saints find themselves fighting for second place with West Siders, UENR and Sunyani are trapped in the lower half of the standings.
Defending champions Suncity Braves lead the way after the first round.
