The National Physical Education Coordinator of Ghana Education Service (G.E. S.) Emmanuel Domenya has described Sprite Ball as an important activity in the calendar of Ghana’s second cycle education. The tenured administrator made the call in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com mere weeks from the 2017 edition of the Championship.
According to Domenya, the annual tournament has become “one of the most important activities” in the year since the first edition tipped off in 2007. In describing the Sprite Ball Championship, he said:
“Is one of the most important activities in our calendar because it starts the academic year for us. You realize that all the schools that are not participating but they are all urging trying to push in because it has become massively one activity that we (GES) enjoy so much. The students enjoy like it so much and it’s really in high ranking among our activities”.
Qualifications for the edition have begun with the likes of Opoku Ware School and Prempeh College booking spots from Ashanti Region. Kumasi Girls Senior High School and T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School qualified from the girls division in the region.
Central, Eastern and Western Regions will have qualifiers players between November 29 and December 2 respectively.
