Two of Ghana’s top collegiate players, Bashir Ahmed and Ernest Aflakpui, are set to square off on Wednesday November 30 as Temple University plays St. John’s University in Philadelphia. Ahead of the anticipated matchup, both players delivered impressive performances in respective games played last night.
Aflakpui’s seven points, five rebounds and a block were enough to sustain Temple’s run to an 89-86 win against Florida State University. The Power Forward has been in good form on the offensive side and it came in handy for the side to score the big victory.
Matters were different for Ahmed however, as the third year Small Forward scored 13 points in his side’s 69-75 loss to Virginia Commonwealth University. His offensive output was the second best mark for St. John’s as he added three rebounds and an assist.
Both players will be in the hunt for a win after going through an up and down season thus far. Aflakpui should maintain his early numbers to see more time on the court after an injury plagued first year as Bashir hopes to continue his impressive form that had him move into Division I.
He played two seasons at Hutchinson Community College in NCAA Division II before getting recruited by St. John’s.
