Global Sporting Platforms (GSP) Basketball League’s first round is over and plans are far advanced to get the second part of the season started as early as possible. However, the improved play and competition in the league’s second season has not been without problems.
One major problem has been the lack of sponsors to address financial challenges confronting the league. Public Relations Officer of the Sunyani-based league, Daniel Addo, has reiterated the need for financial injection in an interview with Basketballghana.com.
He said, “Lack of sponsorship for the league has been a major task for management”. As such, he entreated individuals and corporate bodies to come on board and develop one of Ghana’s fast rising leagues.
“GSP Management calls on corporate bodies to come on board to sponsor the basketball league in Brong-Ahafo, Sunyani”.
Defending champion Suncity Braves lead the league after the first round without losing a game in seven played thus far. Despite winning all games, Braves falls a point short of the maximum number of points (14) due to a walk on victory over University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in the opening round.
LIR Royals sit rock bottom of the league.
