Global Sporting Platforms (GSP) Basketball League Public Relations Officer Daniel Addo has stated he is impressed about the league’s quality in the wake of the first round concluding on November 12 at the Sunyani Polytechnic Court.
The 2016 season’s first half ended with defending champions Suncity Braves winning all seven games but missed out on accumulating maximum points due to a default win over University of Education and Natural Resources (UENR) in the opening week.
His paraphrased thoughts stated, “The strongest team is Braves but its dominance is not very solid. The champions have the strongest defense and offense. The performance of Barracks Scorpions was good in the first three games but inconsistency in player’s selection is adversely affecting performance.”
He also singled out West Siders for huge praise after a consistent run of form sees the side in the top half. West Siders have now become the underdogs in the league. They were able to beat a team like UENR, Scorpions”.
However, he was quick to note the league’s lack of a sponsor makes it extremely difficult for all stake holders.
The league is set to resume on November 26 but league officials are yet to confirm. LIR Royals ended the first round in last place.
