Just hours after learning of Ghana’s Ben Bentil move to China, NBA Development League side Fort Wayne Mad Ants recovered quickly from the shock to beat defending champions Sioux Falls 130-125.
Bentil top scored in the side’s 120-99 win over Greensboro Swarm by registering 27 points to go with 10 rebounds in a double-double effort but decided to make the move to the CBA (China Basketball Association).
His CBA side is yet to be confirmed.
In his absence, backup Point Guard Jordan Lloyd top scored for Mad Ants with 24 points to go with five assists and four rebounds. The former Indianapolis player converted 14 of 15 attempts at the free throw line and converted five shots of 12 attempts in just 24 minutes.
Bentil’s journey has seen him get drafted 51st by Boston Celtics into the NBA from Providence College and cut on the final day only to be picked up by Indiana Pacers and sent to its Development League affiliate side Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
He can still make it back into the NBA as many others have done including Houston Rockets backup Guard Bobby Brown who got signed prior to this season.
