Regional basketball qualifiers from various regions in Ghana are set to take place in the latter part of November and early December as teams in prepare for another onslaught on the annual high school basketball festivities at the Sprite Ball Championship.
Opoku Ware School and Prempeh College qualified from the boys division in the Ashanti Region qualifiers with Kumasi Girls Senior High School and T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School doing same in the girls division. Opoku Ware and Kumasi Girls qualified as champions.
Later this month, November 29 to be specific, the Central Region qualifiers will tip off with the likes of reigning Sprite Ball Championship champions in both boys and girls divisions, St. Augustine’s College and Aggrey Memorial Mount Zion School set to play.
Former winners Mfantsipim School and Wesley Girls High school will be in the running to topple the reigning champs.
Western region’s version takes place on December 2 in the capital, Sekondi-Takoradi. Ahantaman Girls Senior High School and perennial finalists Ghana Secondary Technical School (G.S.T.S.) and St. John’s School will be once heavily favored to make it the main championship in Accra.
The Sprite Ball Championship’s tenth anniversary take places in January next year.
