Kumasi Girls Senior High School’s basketball team is ready to win the 2017 Sprite Ball Championship according to team Coach Zibo Brown.
The former player turned trainer made the statement in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com after guiding his side to win the 2016 Ashanti Regional Basketball Championship with a 9-3 win over T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School (AMASS) in the final game.
The win automatically books a spot for both finalists in the upcoming tournament that Brown believes strongly his side is ready to win.
“We are more than ready to win the Sprite Ball this time, you know I was very close last year losing to Aggrey (Memorial Mount Zion School) 18-19… am more than ready than last year to win Sprite Ball just as I won (the regional championship)” he said.
In its maiden appearance at the national championship-Sprite Ball- Kumasi Girls placed fourth after losing 18-19 to eventual winners Aggrey in the semifinals and regional rival AMASS in the bronze medal game.
However, beating AMASS to lift the regional championship puts the side in the right spot to compete for a title as the win gives the side a seeded spot for the draw.
