Kumasi Girls Senior high School (KGEE) Coach Zibo Brown has described his thoughts on winning the 2016 Ashanti Regional Basketball Championship as a “great feeling”.

He made the statement after guiding the all girls high school to its first ever basketball title after beating T.I.Ahmadiyya Senior High School (AMASS) 9-3 in the final game.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com, Brown said, “Am very happy as you know…it’s a great feeling to win against AMASS who has been dominating in Ashnati Region for the past three years. They won the finals last year at Toase (Senior High School)…that was something I didn’t like so I decided to train my girls very well.”

After beating Toase 9-4 and beating Kumasi Anglican Senior High School 9-6 in the semifinals, KGEE easily handled two time national champions AMASS’ threat to ease to a dominant 9-3 win and flip the championship winning script.

Both schools will represent the region in the national championship-Sprite Ball Championship- in January 2017 and will look to improve on their respective positions in 2016’s edition where KGEE placed fourth and AMASS placed third.

In the boys division, Opoku Ware School and Prempeh College will represent the region; Opoku Ware beat Prempeh College 27-26.
