It was another thrilling showdown in the state of Texas as the San Antonio Spurs travelled to Houston to take on the Rockets. It was their second meeting of the season and the Spurs enacted their revenge as they beat the Rockets 106-100. The season record between these two now sits at 1-1 with both teams having beaten the other on their home court.
It was the James Harden show for the hosts as he had a triple-double for a second straight game against the San Antonio. He ended the game with 25 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds.
However it wasn’t enough to lead his team to the win. Swiss-Congolese center Clint Capela added 12 points and 10 rebounds in an impressive double-double. Eric Gordon scored 27 points off the bench as he was hot from beyond the arc, going 7 of 12 from 3-point land and Trevor Ariza had 15 points.
Kawhi Leonard was the general for the Spurs and he finished the game with 20 points in their victory over Houston. However veteran guard Tony Parker was hugely influential for his team as he was the glue that held things together, he scored 16 points and contributed three assists after returning to the team having suffered knee soreness last week.
The Spurs also saw production from a few of their star players as they took the win on the road, LaMarcus Aldridge had 16 points, Pau Gasol scored 15 and Manu Ginobili added 12. Their record on the road this season sits at 5-0. Houston have lost three of their last four home games against the Spurs their state rivalry.
The Spurs now take their season record to 7-3 while the Rockets are 5-4.
