Schroder gets career-high as Hawks down the Cavs
German-Gambian Dennis Schroder’s career-high performance helped the Atlanta Hawks beat the defending champions Cleveland Cavaliers 110-106.
Schroder finished with 28 points, two rebounds and six assists. Kent Bazemore had 25 points, six rebounds and three assists, Paul Millsap had 21 points, while Swiss-South African Thabo Sefolosha ended the night with five points and five rebounds.
Kyrie Irving led the Cavs with 29 points, Kevin Love had a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds, and LeBron James finished with 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
Nets snare Timberwolves
The Brooklyn Nets held on to home court beating the Minnesota Timberwolves 119-110. Brook Lopez led the Nets with 26 points, shooting 62.5% from the field. Trevor Booker was a rebound shy of a double-double with 15 points and nine boards, while Sean Kilpatrick had 14 points and five rebounds.
Andrew Wiggins had a great night, leading both teams in scoring with 36 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Karl-Anthony Towns had 21 points and seven rebounds while Senegalese centre Gorgui Dieng managed eight points, two rebounds and three assists.
Grizzlies win at the buzzer
In Memphis, the night belonged to Marc Gasol, who hit the game winner at the buzzer, giving the Grizzlies a 108-107 win over the Denver Nuggets. Gasol finished the game with 19 points, two rebounds and six assists. Veteran Vince Carter had 20 points and Zach Randolph ended the night with 16 points and eight rebounds.
DRC’s Emmanuel Mudiay led both teams in scoring with 23 points, four rebounds and seven assists, shooting 53.8% from the field. Danilo Gallinari had 21 points and seven rebounds, while Garry Harris ended the game with 15 points three rebounds and three assists.
Trail Blazers sink Suns
Portland witnessed a close game as the Trail Blazers beat the visiting Phoenix Suns 124-121. The dynamic duo of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum combined for 71 (38 points for Lillard and 33 for McCollum). Maurice Harkless had 24 points and six rebounds. Nigerian Al-Farouq Aminu had a very quiet night and only made one shot and made one field goal.
The Suns were led by Eric Bledsoe with 31 points and four rebounds while Devin Booker ended the game with 23.

Mavericks stop Lakers roll
The Dallas Mavericks beat the LA Lakers at home 109-97. Harrison Barnes led the Mavs with 31 points, two rebounds and two assists, while Seth Curry added 23 points, four rebounds and four assists to Dallas’ winning tally. Tunisian Salah Mejri did not play.
The Lakers were led by Jordan Clackson’s 22 points. Nick Young had 20 points and Julius Randle ended the night with a 15-point 10-rebound double-double.
The rest
In the night’s other game, the Sacramento Kings helped keep the New Orleans Pelicans winless by handing them a 102-94 beating.
