Tema Central Shooting Guard David Okoe Laryea has stated his teammates willingness to do anything was the reason behind is side’s success in the Ebi Bright Basketball Tournament which took place over the weekend at the Tema Community 4 Court.
In an interview with Basketballghana.com, the Marshalls University College leader, who confessed to being tensed after came off the bench in the final against Flashlights of Tema New Town, was impressed with his colleagues attitude.
“I was a little tense but I trusted in my guys they were very very strong they were willing to do anything on the court. Sometimes some baskets we just to simply score it but our mind was all on the defense but we spoke among ourselves and calmed ourselves across board and everything was ok” he said.
Laryea played a role in ending Tema’s slump in the opening minutes of the second quarter after leading the first quarter 15-5. A quick seven nothing run from Flashlights threatened Central’s stranglehold on the game. Three converted free throws from Laryea gave Central a 25-22 lead towards the end of the third quarter.
The one day tournament was funded by National Democratic Congress aspiring Member of Parliament for Tema Central Ebi Bright and attracted a host of dignitaries including Ghana Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye.
