Later today at the Tema Community 4 Basketball Court, the Ebi Bright Basketball Tournament will take place with four teams slated to compete in the maiden edition of the tournament that is fully funded by National Democratic Congress candidate for Tema Central Constituency, Ebi Bright.
The aspiring Member of Parliament is supporting the cause of basketball in the West African country by funding the one day competition that will have Ashaiman Lions, Nungua Coldstore, Tema Central and Flashlights from Tema New Town compete.
Bright recently oversaw a full upgrade on the lighting system at the venue as dead light bulbs were replaced with new ones, ensuring games can be played at night. Two select female sides make the roster of teams set to play today.
Despite the depth of quality from all six teams, Ashaiman Lions and Nungua Coldstore figure to be the most keenly followed, in the wake of great matchups between the sides. Coldstore holds the advantage after annexing two titles in the just ended Tema Community Basketball League.
Today’s games offer Lions the chance to end the season on a high with a first place medal. The tournament tips off at 10 am.
