Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I side, Braves of Customs and Global Sporting Platforms outfit Suncity Braves are pacing the Ghanaian basketball scene with dominant performances in the respective leagues.
In the country’s capital Accra, Braves recently wrapped up another flawless campaign where the side was undefeated in nine regular season games proceeding to beat Teshie Rangers and Reformers of Prisons before inflicting a 67-52 loss on close rivals Tema Youth in the final game. The side successfully defended its 2015 title.
In Ghana’s Brong-Ahafo regional capital Sunyani, Suncity Braves are on a five game winning streak of their own in the young GSP season. Thanks to the winning run, Braves toppled league leaders Barracks Scorpions to assume top spot in the standings.
Its 45-30 win over Scorpions earned the defending champions top spot for the first time this season. The side will be in action on Saturday November 5 against University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in Week 6.
Customs on the other hand, have broken camp following the completion of the season. Had the side competed in the FIBA Zone Three Africa Championship as planned, Braves would have done so after the completion of the tournament on October 30 in Lome, Togo.
