Kano State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has rewarded members of Kano Pillars Male Basketball Team for winning the 2017 Kwese Nigerian Premier Basketball League.
Players and Coaches have been rewarded with huge sums of cash and plots of land to recognize their effort in making Pillars the most dominant side in the West African powerhouse.
Technical men ranging from Assistant to the Head Coach, members of the playing body and team entourage including Team Doctor, Secretaries and Driver have swarmed with gifts.
Per Nigerian hoops outlet BBallNaija, each player received 500,000 Naira or 1404 American Dollars with Head Coach Sani Ahmed receiving 700,000 Naira or 1966 Dollars.
Assistant Coaches received 350,000 Naira or 983 Dollars with Team Doctor and Secretaries taking home 842 Dollars. The team’s Driver walked away from the ceremony with 100,000 Naira or 280 Dollars.
Pillars won last season’s title and placed fourth at Africa’s Club Championship held in Egypt with former Accra Basketball League player Romeo Enan featuring for the side.
By winning this year’s title, Pillars have qualified to compete in the FIBA Zone 3 Championship for a spot in the African competition.
