Ashaiman Lions Forward Carl Kuzagbe has stated he deserves more than the Defensive Player of the Tema Community Basketball League Award he won going further to say he had an eye on winning the Most Valuable Player Award which went to Nungua Coldstore’s Kwame Boamah Djan.
He made the statement when speaking to Basketballghana.com following Lions 59-69 loss to Nungua Coldstore in the finals series of the Tema League. He said:
“I deserve it and even deserve more than that. I was really hoping I will take the (MVP) trophy because when it comes to steals, I know I stole most of their balls, when it comes to intercepting their balls, when it comes to rebounds, I think the officials didn’t give the Defensive Award to a player without watching the statistics of every player. They had something that they were looking at and certainly that’s why they gave it to me”.
Kuzagbe was key to an 11-0 run in the third quarter that brought Ashaiman within a point of tying the score after recovering from a 19-37 half time deficit. Costly turnovers prevented the side from sustaining the run before Nungua recovered to seal the win.
