Community 12 (C 12) has extended its third place series against Flashlights of Tema New Town after beating the latter 70-65 in Game 2 of the Tema Community Basketball League post season; Game 3 is set to be played on November 13.
The side turned in a spirited performance particularly on the boards which Coach Emmanuel Partey identified as the major problem in an interview with Basketballghana.com in his side’s Game 1 loss in the fight for third place.
Much like the previous game in the series, 12 led for major stretches of the game with the side earning a 15-13 first quarter lead. The second quarter lead remained same as Flashlights trailed by two points (36-38) at the end of the first half.
The game’s pace picked up in the third stanza beginning with Flashlights Point Guard Kingsley Quist delivering his second three point shot of the game in what would turn out to be a rather frustrating afternoon for the pint sized ultra quick playmaker.
His below par display did not stop him from delivering a trademark inch perfect alley oop pass to Center Gershon Dzorvor for a trademark dunk topped a remarkable run by the side to grab a 45-41 lead. Back to back three point shots in the closing stages from David Laryea and Jibril Musah however, meant C 12 took a 53-49 lead to into the final quarter.
Another set of back to back three point shots with Laryea involved again, proved instrumental as a strong performance contesting shots proved to be the game changer and earn a win.
Nungua Coldstore beat Ashaiman Lions 69-59 to complete a double over the side and secure the league title.
