Minutes after his Nungua Coldstore earned a 69-59 win over Ashaiman Lions in the Tema Community Basketball League at the Community 4 Basketball Court; Forward Kwame Boamah Djan got names Most Valuable Player of the League.

The freakish athletic frontman got the nod ahead of highly rated contenders Ashaiman Lions duo Elvis Pbi-Siaw and Carl Kuzagbe-was named Defensive Player of the League, Flashlights Kingsley Quist and teammate Kofi Agyei for the top individual prize in the competition.

Nonstop motor, workaholic on the boards and master shot blocker, Djan provided Nungua a strong and versatile defender able to hold his own against bigger players in the post and stay with smaller guys on the perimeter.

His influence was sorely missed in the first half of Game One of the finals series against Ashaiman as his presence in the second half was a major reason for Coldstores’ rally from a 22-27 half time deficit to win 49-38.

Foul troubles saw Djan play a minimal role in the latter quarters in Game Two.

Upon receiving the award, Djan stated, “I really deserve because I think I have put in much work, much effort …I feel very great” in an interview with Basketballghana.com.
