After several years, the Tema Community 4 Basketball Court is about to be lit as works on lighting up the court progresses.
The project, which is funded by National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate for Tema Central Constituency, Ebi Bright, is on track to be completed in time for a special one day tournament on November 6.
The parliamentary hopeful and former actress is a keen follower of basketball and sees the project as one of many initiatives she has penned down to improve the lives of young individuals in the constituency and beyond.
As a staunch advocate for the rights of women, the yet to be named tournament will feature two female teams.
This is the latest in a string of renovations at the Court popularly known as the “Chinese Basketball Court” after the surface of the famed venue got repainted with the contributions of veteran players including Richard Borsah, Sandy Asiedu and Tema Community Basketball League organizer Fred Yeboah.
Games in the league have been honored at the court and the final series of games between Nungua Coldstore and Ashaiman Lions and Community 12 and Flashlights of Tema New Town, will follow suit.
Flashlights beat Community 12 39-33 in Game One of the third place matchup before Nungua beat Ashaiman 49-38 to go one up in the title series.
